平面に集めてのばして方三㎝ほどの極少量。
土間にある炉址から出土した鉄滓は、大阪の鉄鋼短期大学の横川清志助教授にその分析を依頼したところ、これはいわゆる鉄滓ではなく鉄の製品がくさってできた単なる鉄の塊であることがわかった。さらに横川助教授は、これを顕微鏡で検査されたところ、同心円状をなしていることがわかり、それから火箸よりも大きい鉄棒がくさって、このようになったのであることがわかった。この鉄棒も氷を割る道具の一つであったのではなかろうか、と考えられています。
