当神社は、元禄元（1688）年10月に、高知城下で非業の死を遂げた義民高橋安之丞を御祭神としています。建立は棟礼から明治6（1873）年に長州大工の深江林三郎ほか3人の手によると考えられています。本殿は桁行一間、梁間一間の入母屋造、幣殿・拝殿は正面三間、側面五間の入母屋造妻入です。全体に華麗な組物と彫刻が駆使された建築で、かつ、幣殿・拝殿は木柄が大きく豪快な建築です。この装飾性に富んだ華麗で豪快な社は、往時の人々の高橋安之丞への信仰の深さを感じさせられます。
